As the first weekend of being a homeowner comes to past I am going to take this time to show what I have all accomplished this weekend.
First task that was completed was the removal of the carpet in the kitchen. The older lady that lived in the house prior didn't like a cold floor so she had carpet installed in the kitchen. I hated it so I ripped it out to see the floor underneath. Turns out there was a layer of linoleum tiles underneath. These were a real treat to remove. A couple hours of scraping and pulling up the tiles and tar paper below revealed a plywood flooring. I had plans to cover this up so I didn't care much. Here are a couple snaps of the flooring while in progress of removing the tiles.
More progress after the jump!

The before..
Below are a few pictures I had taken of the property during the final walkthrough of the house on 11/22/09.
Hello all, welcome to my home..
Welcome everyone, my name is Brian and I have just purchased my first home. It is a Lannon Stone Ranch that was built in 1951. I am very excited to make this home mine with the updates that I have planned for it.
I had been looking to purchase a home for well over a year. I looked at many and was interested in a few. Unfortunately, all the homes I had been interested in were sold by the time I had tried to look at them. It seemed like a long, never-ending journey to find the right house. While driving around one Sunday looking at a lot of houses around the area I found one that was for sale by owner. I thought it looked interesting and I took a flyer from the sign and wrote down the number.
I then proceeded to a few more open houses that I had planned to look at. At the end of the day, on the way home, I turned down the street in which the for sale by owner house was. Little did I know, this would be the street I was going to live off of. As I came to the corner I realized that the owner was having an open house so I stopped in to look at it. I immediately fell in love with the place.
